Social Media Policy

Purpose

Social media is a powerful tool for showcasing your work and building your professional reputation. This policy provides guidelines so you can share your talent online while protecting client privacy, the salon's reputation, and your own professional standing.

Posting Salon Work

Sharing your work on personal social media accounts is encouraged! When posting:

  • Get client consent before posting any photos or videos - verbal consent is the minimum; written consent is preferred for before-and-after transformations
  • Tag the salon's official account in all posts featuring work performed at the salon
  • Do not share confidential client information (full names, contact info, service history, payment details, etc.)
  • Use appropriate hashtags and location tags to help promote the salon
  • Post only work you personally performed - do not take credit for another team member's work

Representing the Salon Online

Whether you identify yourself as an employee of Amenities Day Spa And Salon in your bio, posts, or comments, your online conduct reflects on the business.

  • Be professional and respectful in all online interactions
  • Do not speak on behalf of the salon unless authorized by the owner
  • Do not make promises, guarantees, or claims about services or pricing on social media - direct inquiries to the salon
  • If you receive a question about salon services or availability through your personal account, refer the person to the salon directly (phone, website, or official social media)

Confidentiality

The following information must never be shared on social media or any public platform:

  • Client names, contact information, or service details (without explicit consent)
  • Internal business information - revenue, pricing strategies, employee schedules, staffing decisions
  • Private conversations between employees, between employees and management, or between employees and clients
  • Photos or videos of other employees or clients taken without their knowledge and consent
  • Any information learned through your role that is not already public

Prohibited Content

The following types of content are prohibited on any platform when connected to your role at the salon:

  • Disparaging comments about the salon, its owners, coworkers, or clients
  • Content that harasses, bullies, or discriminates against any person or group based on a protected characteristic
  • Content depicting illegal activity
  • Content that violates copyright or intellectual property rights
  • Sexually explicit or violent content associated with the salon or its brand

Personal vs. Professional Accounts

You are free to maintain personal social media accounts and express your personal views. However:

  • If your account identifies you as an employee of Amenities Day Spa And Salon, all content on that account may be associated with the business
  • Consider using a disclaimer such as "Views are my own" if you discuss topics unrelated to work on an account that also features salon content
  • The salon does not monitor personal accounts, but violations of this policy that come to management's attention will be addressed

Online Reviews

  • Do not post fake reviews of the salon (positive or negative) on any platform
  • Do not ask clients to leave reviews in exchange for discounts or special treatment
  • You may genuinely encourage satisfied clients to share their experience online
  • Do not respond to negative reviews of the salon on behalf of the business unless authorized by the owner
  • If you see a review that concerns you (positive or negative), bring it to management's attention

Consequences for Violations

Violations of this social media policy will be addressed through the progressive discipline process. Depending on the severity:

  • A first-time minor violation (e.g., forgetting to get consent before posting) will typically result in coaching and a reminder of this policy
  • Serious violations (e.g., sharing confidential client information, posting disparaging content) may result in a written warning or further disciplinary action up to and including termination
  • Violations that also breach California law (e.g., client privacy violations) may carry additional legal consequences

If you have questions about whether something is appropriate to post, ask your manager or the salon owner before posting.
